CJ Anderson is a dance educator and aerial artist from Charleston, SC. In 2018, she earned her B.A. in Dance Education and Communication Studies from Columbia College in SC where she was awarded a full-tuition scholarship. There she trained with dance professors Marcy Jo Yonkey-Clayton, Martha Brim, Erin Bailey, Amanda Ling, and Crystal U. Davis, Jessica Moore, and Dianne McGhee Valle. She is currently earning her M.F.A. in Dance at Texas Woman's University where her research explores improvisational methods in aerial dance.


As a dancer and choreographer, Anderson strives to create work that spreads empathy by exploring the complexities and curiosities that makes us human. Anderson has performed through her collegiate dance programs and various companies including Yuhas & Dancers, Soda City Cirque, and Revolve Aerial Dance at events including PortFringe (Portland, ME), the Ashville Fringe Arts Festival, and the North Charleston Performing Arts Festival.

Anderson is a passionate dance educator as well and aims to share empowerment through dance and aerial arts. She has taught residencies and workshops in a number of South Carolina schools including the Charleston County School of the Arts, Gander Elementary, and A.C. Flora High School. She enjoys teaching and presenting at conferences and festivals which has included the Southern States Communication Association Conference (Greenville, SC), the American College Dance Association Southeastern Regional Festival (Atlanta, GA), Columbia Dance and Improvisation Festival and the Richland One Dance Festival.
